BCHS Names Ms. Christi Medders as the Rising Star Award recipient!

BCHS administration will be honoring one teacher with the Rising Star Award quarterly. The recipient of this award is a teacher with less than five years in the field of education who shines bright with enthusiasm and determination. BCHS administration is proud to announce that the very first Rising Star Award recipient for this quarter is Ms. Christi Medders!
Taking a leap of faith, with a significant career change, this individual had no idea what the world of education looked like. If you did not know that, you would be fooled into thinking otherwise. Since day one, this teacher has been driven to master the skills of a successful teacher. She has continued to keep that drive even through obstacles and the birth of a precious blessing from GOD.
A great teacher works hard to prepare, to think freshly about the material taught, and to find current examples that will grab students' interest. This is her on a regular basis as she creates learning experiences rather than instructional episodes by constantly refining how to get the students from what they arrive knowing, to what they need to understand or be able to do when they leave.
This humble soul embraces any opportunity for professional development and seeks constructive criticism and advice as an opportunity to grow as an educator. Rather than thinking of herself as weak, because she asks for suggestions or help, this teacher views collaboration as a way to learn from fellow professionals. This person is approachable, not only to students, but to everyone on campus. This is the teacher to whom students know they can go with any problems or concerns or even to share a funny story. Great teachers possess good listening skills and take time out of their way-too-busy schedules for anyone who needs them, and, she does just that. If this teacher is having a bad day, no one ever knows. She completes requests with initiative and a positive attitude.
In closing, a quote by K. Patricia Cross, “The task of the excellent teacher is to stimulate ‘apparently ordinary’ people to unusual effort. The tough problem is not in identifying winners: it is in making winners out of ordinary people.” For that, BCHS is proud to announce Christi Medders as the first Rising Star recipient as she is a winner in our books!
