Bacon County High School is proud to recognize our 2023 Homecoming Grand Marshal, Mr. Mark Cohen! Mark is a lifelong resident of Bacon County and a pillar of our community. He is married to his wife Laure and together, they have three sons and one grandson. Mark is a Bacon County High School alumni and also graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in Marketing. He is most frequently seen running the family store on Main Street in downtown Alma. Mark has been working at Cohen’s of Alma since 1985 and officially took over store management following his father’s retirement in 1997. He is a third-generation owner of the store that will turn 100 next year. Aside from running a very successful business, Mark is also very involved and dedicated to the community. He served on the school board for 16 years and served as Chairman for five of those years. He is a faithful member of the Alma Lyons Club and has served as president of that organization. He is a Chamber of Commerce member and has also served as president. Mark has also been actively involved in the Cub Scout program, Blueberry Festival Committee, and Development Authority. He was named Bacon County Citizen of the Year for the year 2000. Mark’s hobbies include watching Red Raider sporting events during the week and yelling GO DAWGS on Saturday. Bacon County High School would like to thank Mark for being such a vital part of Raider Nation and supporting all of our organizations within our school and community! From donations to spectating, Mark Cohen can always be counted on to provide support and leadership in Bacon County!
